APEX Wallcoverings and the Environment

APEX Wallcoverings Promote Healthier Indoor Air Quality

Wallcoverings used for interior projects directly impact indoor air quality (IAQ). Those that emit lower levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during their installation and over the course of their useful life are the optimal choice for supporting healthier IAQ. The best choice are those that offer high performance, while also being environmentally sensitive.

Indoor air quality is an environmental issue we take very seriously.

And it’s an environmental issue everyone should take seriously. Our manufacturer, Len-Tex Corporation, incorporates Clean Vinyl Technology™ (CVT) into all of their wallcoverings. Their innovative CVT technology formulation contains NO phthalates, heavy metals or formaldehyde, eliminating the chemicals and associated health risks typically found in vinyl wallcoverings. The result? APEX wallcoverings meet many rigorous standards, including:

  • SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification

Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) is the recognized global leader in providing environmental standards and certification for indoor air quality measurements. Their SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold certification is accepted by BREEAM, and meets the criteria of the most stringent threshold for indoor emissions, California Section 01350, which uses human health-based standards for indoor air quality.

  • California 01350 standard for low VOCs and healthy indoor air quality

Pass rating for the State of California Special Environmental Requirement 01350. The product was tested under the 96-hour protocol measuring emissions rates of each chemical on the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment Chronic Reference Exposure Limits.

  • Collaborative for High-Performance Schools (CHPS) initiative

Certified to meet the Low-Emitting Materials criteria of the Collaborative for High-Performance Schools (CHPS section 01350) for use in a typical classroom. For more information on CHPS, visit their website at www.chps.net.

These third-party certifications confirm our company’s dedication to healthier living spaces and work environments and are a cornerstone of our business.

LEED is Green Building

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building, community, and home project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.

Our Clean Vinyl Technology™ Wallcoverings can contribute to LEED credits!

In addition to potentially qualifying a project for material reporting and low emitting materials credits, our Reclamation program may lead to additional LEED credits for your renovation project!
